Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

Gavin is a child and adolescent psychiatry doctor living in London. Although he works across all fields of child psychiatry, he has particular interest in supporting neurodiverse people with their physical and mental health. He is a Presidential Scholar for Physical Health at the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych), developing the College's strategy on promoting good physical health in people living with mental illness. He is also a Committee Member on RCPsych's Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Faculty Executive, representing child psychiatry doctors nationally.
Gavin is from Ireland. He studied medicine at Trinity College Dublin on a Foundation Scholarship and holds an MSc in Molecular Medicine from Trinity College Dublin. In 2022 he was selected for the prestigious National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellowship at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), where he deepened his clinical leadership experience and created national evidence-based clinical guidance. He was previously shortlisted for the RCPsych Core Psychiatric Trainee of the Year, and won the national Philip Davis Prize from RCPsych. His research has been into risk factors for self-harm and suicide in young people. Gavin is also a community governor at a school in south London for autistic children with moderate to severe learning disabilities.
In his spare time, he is an extremely competent home cook, plays piano, and runs a few times a week.
